Worldwide CARE event with Zumba Fitness

On saturday the 24th of September 2011 I will make my second Fundraising Event for CARE with ZUMBA®  fitness for about 200 people in Prismen in Copenhagen.

My aim is to help CARE starting new SAVE-LOAN-GROUPS called VSLA(Village Savings and Loan Associations) in Africa and other countries. As soon as I found out about these groups, I decided immedieately to do everything I can to help and planned a ZUMBA event to raise money.

The VSLA groups is empowering women to support their families, start their own business, raise their status and make a change in their Comunity (Niger just had their first democratic election and 31 women from selfhelp groups were running for election, this by itself is amazing)

This year I’m also hoping that I can get more ZUMBA Instructors in Denmark and throughout the world to help me, by setting up their own ZUMBA event/class on the same day. This way we will raise even more money. Clik here to see more about the SAVE-LOAN-GROUPS

If you are a ZUMBA® Instructor and want to be part of this event, please contact me for more information. Because this is a worldwide fundraising, the press will hopefully write about it, and you will become more known and get more students. See more detailed information here and please join our group on facebook ZUMBA FOR CARE – WORLDWIDE RAISING EVENT ON September 24th 2011

One more thing I would like you to know is that my life changed since I made the disicion last year to do the ZUMBA event for CARE, I found the man of my dreams and my business got even better. I think it is because I gave without expecting anything back, but of course I can’t be sure of that connection… what ever the case, it brings me much joy to know that I have helped a lot of women in Africa.

PS. I’ll be at the Zumba convention 2011 :-) if you want to meet with me.

Anges is a member of an VSLA group, this is her story:

Before VSLA, life was hard. We women totally depended on our husbands because we had no money of our own. When we needed money for something they would say they had no money even when they did. They would not help when our parents or other relatives were sick.

Since joining VSLA I have been able to save and take loans several times, which have helped me to revive my shop, which was collapsing. I also started selling fish. With the income from my business I am able to buy food for my household and small things for my son and daughter. I feel very free being able to do this without having to go to my husband for money.

VSLA has helped me to change my view about myself. I now believe in myself. I believe that I am able to achieve anything. I am full of confidence and no longer fear standing in front of people to provide my opinion on an issue. I can take loans because I do not fear that I will be unable to repay. Even if I face difficulties, I will pay the money back
